Hyrox, Powerlifting, or Just Want to Get Strong? Why Our Setup Works for All Three

Hyrox, Powerlifting, or Just Want to Get Strong? Why Our Setup Works for All Three

With HYROX events popping up all over the country, it’s no surprise more people in Brisbane are asking:
“Where do you actually train for this stuff?”

Whether you're prepping for a Hyrox event, focused on powerlifting, or just want to build real-world strength and conditioning, Club Bunker in Newstead has the gear, space, and vibe to actually support that kind of training.

No gimmicks. No waiting for equipment. No weird looks when you’re pushing a sled on a Tuesday.

What Is Hyrox, Anyway?

If you’ve never heard of it, HYROX is a global fitness competition combining running and functional movements like sled pushes, wall balls, rowing, lunges, and more — all done for time.

It’s brutal, rewarding, and growing fast. And the best part?
You don’t need to be an elite athlete to train like one.

Our Setup — Built for Hybrid Athletes

At Club Bunker, our floor is designed to support multiple disciplines — not just one training style.

  • 🛷 Sled track (4x10m): ideal for push/pull intervals

  • 🏋️‍♂️ Platform area: perfect for powerlifting, Olympic lifts, or general strength

  • 💪 Machines + accessories: everything from leg curls to GHDs

  • 🏃‍♂️ Open conditioning space: wall balls, rowing, lunges, ski erg, you name it

  • ⏱️ 24/7 access: train when it suits your program

You’ll see members training for all kinds of events: Hyrox. Powerlifting comps. CrossFit-style workouts. Or just to be better at life.

Training Like an Athlete, Even If You’re Not Competing

You don’t have to be signed up for an event to train with intent.

A lot of our members train Hyrox-style just for the structure — it’s full-body, cardio meets strength, and it keeps you honest. The same goes for strength training. You don’t need to compete to chase a strong squat or deadlift.
